JACK DEE AND MARK STEEL TOP THE GREATEST RADIO COMEDY LIST
Mark Steel’s acclaimed radio series Mark Steel’s in Town, and the Jack Dee-hosted long-running Radio 4 show I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, have both been voted into the greatest radio comedies of all time by a group of expert judges.
Jack’s BBC show, known for its deadpan delivery and double entendres, has topped the list – which was described by Radio Times’ radio editor Jane Anderson as a ‘reminder of some of radio’s finest comedy gold’.
Mark’s renowned show landed seventh, from a long-list of almost 100 sitcoms, satires, and sketch shows from 1939 to the present day that, drawn up by Radio Times readers and radio industry insiders.
Seventh best radio comedy of all time? I won’t pretend I’m not flattered by that. That’s probably the equivalent of Zidane if I was a footballer, or Mao if I was a dictator. https://t.co/LY0BLZ4xGn
