Stand-up comedian and television presenter Dara O Briain is best known in the UK for hosting BBC’s Mock the Week for 16 years and numerous other shows such as BlockBusters, Robot Wars, Stargazing Live and Go8Bit. Most recently Dara won Channel 4’s Taskmaster with the highest points total ever recorded.
In 2017 Dara released his first children’s book ‘Beyond the Stars’ (Scholastic), a hilarious journey through the solar system and our galaxy, which was nominated for the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Non-Fiction. In 2018 the follow up ‘Secret Science – The Amazing World Beyond your Eyes’ was released to great critical acclaim. In 2020 Dara released his third children’s book ‘Is There Anybody Out There’.
2023 saw Dara presenting a highly acclaimed documentary on The Moon, which will be followed up in 2024 with a documentary on The Sun and a stand-alone two-parter on the Mysteries of the Pyramids.
2024 saw Dara complete a 27 month long, global tour of his most recent stand-up show, ‘So Where Were We?’. Winner of The Chortle Award for best Live Tour.in 2023. He performed 173 shows across 5 continents taking in all points from Svalbard to Melbourne, finishing at Boston’s Legendary Wilbur Theatre in the US in February 2024. Dara’s last 2 shows have been broadcast as exclusive stand-up specials by the BBC, he has also had five live specials released by Universal Pictures starting in 2006.
