West Yorkshire-born Jessica is one of the UK’s most sought-after comedy talents. She created, wrote, produced and starred in four series of her hit comedy show Drifters which was the highest rated sitcom on E4 and repeated on Channel 4 to much critical acclaim, described by The Guardian as ‘essential viewing’. Following the second series of the show, Knappett was nominated for an RTS Award for Best Comedy Writer and a Broadcast Award.
As an actress she has starred in a number of films, playing Lisa in The Inbetweeners Movie, appearing in Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and starring alongside David Schwimmer in TV movie Irreversible. Jess’ acting talents have also seen her land roles in hit series’ Ghosts, Hitmen, Meet the Richardsons, Dodger and in a leading role alongside Romesh Ranganathan in two series of BBC’s Avoidance, which she both wrote and co-starred in.
Jessica’s natural comic sensibility has seen her become a regular fixture on a score of entertainment shows such as Taskmaster, Would I Lie to You?, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Cats Does Countdown, The Last Leg, Drunk History, Travel Man: 48 Hours In…, Hypothetical, Outsiders, Guessable, Judge Romesh and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled.
Spring 2024 saw Summer 2024 will see the launch of Jessica’s brand new podcast, Perfect Day, in which she interviews a funny person about what constitutes their perfect morning, afternoon and night, gaining an entertaining insight into the daily lives and habits of our favourite comedians and cultural icons.
There is no end to her talents: she can also do a faultless impression of an air horn.
